MUSTERING OF STORKS

Black Stork, Estonia - 3 weeks old already! Mom/Dad feed the storklets by regurgitating food & water for them.

Look at the size of those feet!

Kind of looks like they are up to something, doesn't it?

Having an afternoon snooze.

White Stork, Vetschau, Germany - The nest started out with 4 storklets, but sadly, 2 of them died. It appears that the remaining 2 are getting bigger and doing well, so we will hope for the best.

The remaining two storklets are about 2.5 weeks old here.

Preening is important to maintain feather health.

This little one is starting to show beak clattering, which is how storks communicate with each other.

White Stork, Bornheim (Nest #2), Germany - This nest has three storklets, who are about 4 weeks old. Yesterday, the mom of this nest was shown to have streaks of blood on her feathers. and it is thought that she was the stork that was reported to be involved in a collision with a vehicle. I am keeping my fingers crossed that she will be okay.

White Stork, Bornheim (Sportsplex Nest) - 4 storks in this nest and they are doing well. They are about 7.5 weeks old and it won't be long now until they fledge! White Storks fledge at 8 - 9 weeks of age.
